Stepping into the world of "blog"

The heading above titled Father John Foley's first blog post! As he admits in the post, "I am getting quite a bit of pressure to do so." While this initiative has been in development for the past few weeks, the launch timed perfectly with the request from Pope Benedict XVI to priests: Go forth and blog.

Follow From the Desk of John Foley, S.J. today to learn more each week about the inspiring success of the Cristo Rey Network from the words of the founder and Executive Chairman himself.

New partnership launched with Best Buy's @15

The Cristo Rey Network recently launched a new video project, “My Education, My Job, My Success,” in partnership with Best Buy’s @15 initiative and generous support from The Bradley Foundation.

For five months, Cristo Rey Network students, Brandon Guevara from Christ the King Preparatory in Newark, NJ and Jasmine Kendrick from Detroit Cristo Rey High School in Detroit, MI, will document how they live their lives at 15, learn from their jobs and school, love their families and communities, and also become leaders in all their environments - the core foundations of the @15 campaign.

Gates Foundation awards Network math grant

The Cristo Rey Network is pleased to announce a $149,733 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the organization’s participation in the Mathematics Assessment for Learning Project. Launched by the foundation to increase college readiness for high school students, the Project will help prepare Cristo Rey Network schools to use new mathematic assessments to guide classroom learning.

2010 Annual Meeting - No Money, No Mission

Hosted by St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey High School in Omaha, the Cristo Rey Network will host the 2010 Annual Meeting April 19-22 for school leaders to come together to network face to face and share best practices. Experts around the country will educate participants on new, cutting-edge ideas to assist Cristo Rey Network schools in overcoming their challenges as a result of the recession.

Appropriately titled, "No Money, No Mission," this year’s Annual Meeting will address the critical financial needs of Network schools so that they may continue transforming urban education. If you or your company would like to be a sponsor, learn more now.
